When you're in the middle of a call and something unexpected comes up — an objection you didn't prepare for, a question about a competitor you don't know well, a technical question that's outside your comfort zone — AI can be a real-time resource if you know how to use it quickly.
Keep Claude or ChatGPT open in a separate window or tab during important calls. When something unexpected comes up, you can quickly type a short prompt while the prospect is talking and have a response ready before you need to speak.
For an unexpected objection: "2-sentence response to: '[PASTE OBJECTION]'. Acknowledge + redirect. Under 30 words."
For a competitor question you're not sure about: "Key differentiators vs [COMPETITOR] in 3 bullets."
For a technical question outside your expertise: "Simple 1-sentence answer to: '[TECHNICAL QUESTION]'. Non-technical language."
For when the conversation goes off script: "Transition back to discovery from this tangent: '[DESCRIBE TANGENT]' in 1 sentence."
This technique requires practice. If you're focusing on reading AI responses during a call, you're not fully present in the conversation. Use this sparingly — for genuinely unexpected moments, not as a crutch for every moment of uncertainty. The best sales calls are conversations, and you can't be fully in a conversation if you're reading from a second screen.
