Your week is documents, deals and structure
- RFPs, security questionnaires and long discovery notes fill your week.
- Your ICP and methodology should persist instead of being re-explained.
For account executives, SDRs, account managers and the managers buying for them. What each tool reaches, what each tier costs, which workflows each fits, and what happens to your customer data.
Neither name is a single product. “ChatGPT” is six plans; “Claude” is five. The tier decides whether the tool reaches your files and CRM at all, whether your conversations train a model, and whether what you build can be shared. Most comparisons pick a model. The plan is the decision.
Eleven plans sit behind two names, and the gaps between them are larger than the gap between the brands.
Claude Pro against ChatGPT Plus — the fair fight for one seller, both near $20. Where a capability sits a tier up, it says so there. The team comparison is Claude Team Standard against ChatGPT Business, both $20 a seat annually, two-seat minimum.
Scores would imply a measurement nobody has taken. These are fit judgements.
| Criterion | Claude Pro | ChatGPT Plus | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary strength | Sustained analysis, structured writing | Breadth, capture, data work | Depends on your stack |
| Long-document analysis | One window on every model | Larger, on reasoning models only | Depends on your stack |
| Structured sales analysis | Projects carry the methodology | Projects and custom GPTs, same | Claude advantage |
| Writing and drafting | Preferred for long-form, executive tone | Preferred for quick first drafts | Both supported |
| Web research and citations | Web search on every plan | Deep research from Plus | Both supported |
| Connectors and business systems | MCP connectors, some on Free | Wider catalogue, Plus and up | ChatGPT advantage |
| Meeting capture | None. Works from your transcript | Record mode, native from Plus | ChatGPT advantage |
| CRM access | Official HubSpot connector, read/write | HubSpot among connector apps | Claude advantage |
| Spreadsheet and sales data | Code execution, Excel add-in | Data analysis, Office extensions | ChatGPT advantage |
| Reusable team assets | Skills and Projects, org-wide on Team | Custom GPTs, shared on Business | Depends on your stack |
| Setup and administration | Nothing to approve to start | Several connectors need admin | Requires admin approval |
| Relative cost | $17 annual, $20 monthly | $20 at time of writing | Claude advantage |
Capability rows come from vendor documentation; writing-quality rows are reviewer consensus.
Both land near $20 for one person and $20 a seat for a team, so price barely decides it. What matters is seat minimums, what an admin must approve, and one usage-based tier that is not a subscription.
Per user per month
Web search, memory, remote-MCP connectors.
Annual is $200 up front. Adds unlimited Projects, Research, Cowork, Microsoft 365.
Teams of 2 to 150. Adds SSO, connector control, enterprise search, org-wide skills.
Premium seats are $100 annually for 5× usage; types can be mixed.
Annual only, self-serve from 20 seats.
Usage bills separately at API rates. Not a predictable monthly cost.
Per user per month
Neither can use the apps that connect to internal tools.
Connector apps, deep research, projects, tasks, custom GPTs, record mode, Office extensions.
OpenAI renders individual prices dynamically, so this was not in the page source. Check before you buy.
Two-user minimum. Adds company knowledge, workspace agents, shared GPTs, admin console, SSO.
Content is not used for training here, by contract. The main reason to move up from Plus.
Adds SCIM, key management, RBAC, compliance API, residency in ten regions.
No published price or seat minimum.
For a two-person team the business tiers cost the same per head as the individual ones. The crossover is far lower than most teams assume, and it buys what no individual plan can: a contractual guarantee that customer conversations are not used for training.
Ordered by how much of a selling week they take.
Both produce mediocre output from a vague prompt. Promptifi's library works on either.
Not which model writes better, but whether one person can build a qualification assistant, hand it to twenty reps, and keep it when they leave.
| Capability | Claude | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| Persistent personal context | Projects and Memory, unlimited from Pro | Projects and memory, from Free |
| Packaged assistant | Skills, incl. pre-built Office skills | Custom GPTs, from Go |
| Push one asset to everyone | Org-wide skills, Team and Enterprise | Shared GPTs, Business and Enterprise |
| Search company documents | Enterprise search, Team and Enterprise | Company knowledge, Business and Enterprise |
| Admin control over connectors | Team and Enterprise | Business and Enterprise |
| Deprovisioning | SCIM and RBAC on Enterprise | SCIM on Enterprise |
| Entry point for a team | Team standard seat, $20 annually, 2–150 | Business, $20 annually, two-user minimum |
On both, an individual can build an assistant nobody vetted. Control arrives at the business tier: Claude Team adds connector control and org-wide skills, ChatGPT Business an admin console. Below that, whatever a rep builds is private and enablement cannot update or retire it.
The question most rollouts skip. Work built in a personal account leaves with the person — Projects, custom GPTs, memory, instructions. On a managed workspace the seat is administered centrally and SCIM makes deprovisioning a process. If your assistant lives in one rep's login, rebuild it in a shared workspace.
“Custom GPTs are ChatGPT's team advantage and Claude has nothing like them” is out of date. Both package reusable assistants and gate sharing behind a business tier at the same price.
Nothing is collected or transmitted. This runs in your browser and produces a starting point.
Confirm current pricing and your data policy before you buy.
Need daily access to your inbox, Drive, SharePoint or CRM without admin approval? Settle that first. If long documents and proposals dominate your week, start with Claude Pro; if capture and spreadsheets do, start with ChatGPT Plus. Standardising a team means a business tier either way.
Most of the gap between a useful assistant and a generic one is context you give once.
Two general assistants overlap heavily, and every handoff below moves information between vendors — a governance decision before a productivity one.
Governance: lowest risk here — nothing confidential moves.
Governance: sharing needs a business tier, and someone must keep it current.
Governance: highest risk here. An NDA document moving to a second vendor is a legal decision.
For most individual sellers it is not. Several workflows above are evenly matched, so a second subscription buys duplication — plus a second bill, a second set of Projects to maintain, and context split so neither holds the full picture. If either is unopened after a quarter, cancel it.
The pattern is identical on both sides: consumer tiers train on your content unless you opt out; business tiers do not.
| Tier | Used for training? | What it means for a seller |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Free, Pro, Max | Opt-out available | On by default. Change it before you paste a contract. |
| Claude Team, Enterprise | No, by default | The reason to move a team up, features aside. |
| ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, Pro | Opt-out available | Every individual tier. No consumer plan is excluded. |
| ChatGPT Business, Enterprise | No, by contract | A commitment, not a toggle a rep can forget. |
The realistic failure is a rep pasting a contract or CRM export into a personal account outside any agreement your company signed, with training opt-out never switched on. Neither vendor can apply enterprise controls to an account it does not know is yours. What your organisation must do with customer data is a question for your security and legal teams.
At business tiers both offer SSO, an admin console and connector control, and connectors inherit source permissions. SCIM, RBAC, audit logging, custom retention and residency sit at Enterprise on both. ChatGPT Business carries SOC 2 Type 2; ISO is Enterprise only. Claude Enterprise offers a HIPAA-ready configuration.

$17 annually, nothing to approve, strongest fit for deal work.
Claude works inside Excel, Word and PowerPoint; ChatGPT has Microsoft connectors and Office extensions. Your tenant decides.
Both connect Drive, Gmail and Calendar; Claude from Free, ChatGPT from Plus.
Salesforce sits in Anthropic's connector directory. Confirm what your org permits.
HubSpot built its first CRM connector for Claude, read and write.
One window on every model, so no document is half-read. Review every answer.
Drafting quality is close enough to decide on cost.
The one capability Claude has no answer to.
Deal narratives lean Claude, pipeline exports ChatGPT. The role where two tools earns its place.
Both gate sharing behind a business tier at $20 a seat.
ChatGPT Enterprise publishes residency in ten regions; Claude Enterprise is HIPAA-ready and bills usage separately.
More recurring work lands on analysis. Reverse if calls or spreadsheets dominate.
Claude Pro at $17 billed annually, or ChatGPT Plus. Below those tiers they stop being work tools: ChatGPT Free and Go cannot use the connector apps, and Claude Free runs out of usage inside a day.
Close, but incomplete. Claude Pro is $17 annually or $20 monthly; ChatGPT Plus was $20 at time of writing, though OpenAI renders prices dynamically. The real difference is higher up: Claude Enterprise charges $20 a seat plus usage at API rates, and ChatGPT Enterprise has no published price.
Only ChatGPT, through record mode from Plus. Claude has no capture surface and does not accept audio or video, so it works from a transcript you supply.
Claude's official HubSpot connector reads and writes records; both carry CRM connectors on paid tiers. The shared limit matters more: neither has triggers, so nothing updates your pipeline while you are away.
On consumer tiers, yes unless you opt out — Claude Free, Pro, Max and ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, Pro. On Claude Team and Enterprise and ChatGPT Business and Enterprise, no, by contract.
Frequently. In a managed tenant, mailbox, calendar and document connectors usually need admin consent on both. Confirm before buying a plan for a capability you cannot enable.
No. There is no rigorous, independent, sales-task-specific evaluation as of August 2026. Where this page says one is better suited, that is reviewer consensus.
No. The overlap is large, so a second subscription usually buys duplication. Two tools make sense for a specific gap — needing calls captured while also doing heavy document analysis — or for a manager consolidating across reps.
Claude Pro against ChatGPT Plus for one seller; Claude Team Standard against ChatGPT Business for a team. US pricing, verified 24 August 2026.
Capability, pricing and data-handling claims come from vendor documentation. Claims about writing or analysis are reviewer consensus, labelled as such. We ran no controlled test and publish no benchmark scores — no independent sales-specific evaluation exists.
Documented facts and editorial judgement stay separate: verdict labels, fit sections and the decision guide are Promptifi's recommendations; what a plan includes, costs or does with data comes from the vendor. Re-check anything you are about to buy.
Whichever you pick, the prompt does most of the work. Our packs cover discovery, MEDDPICC, proposals and outbound.
