Winner: ChatGPT (slight edge)
For short, casual outreach — especially trigger-based emails and LinkedIn messages — ChatGPT tends to produce slightly more natural-sounding first drafts. The outputs feel less structured and more human on the first pass.
Claude's first-draft cold emails are often excellent but can trend slightly more formal. A single iteration prompt ("make this sound more casual and peer-to-peer") almost always brings Claude's output to parity or beyond.

When your prompt includes multiple constraints — specific framework, specific tone, specific CTA, specific word count, specific reference to a prospect detail — Claude follows all of them more reliably. ChatGPT sometimes drops one constraint when there are too many.

Both produce strong subject line variations. For subject lines specifically, run both and pick from the combined output. You'll get 6-8 options of comparable quality.

For multi-touch sequences where each email needs to maintain consistent character voice, progress the relationship, and avoid repeating angles — Claude maintains more coherence across the sequence.
