Test prompts before you depend on them

Before you use any prompt for something that matters — a proposal to a CFO, a follow-up email after a great demo, a stall diagnosis for a $200K deal — test it first with fictional data.

Why this matters

Prompt performance varies by AI tool, by the amount of context you provide, and by the specific phrasing of your placeholders. A prompt that works perfectly in Claude may produce a different structure in ChatGPT. A placeholder that seems clear to you may produce an unexpected output.

The 5-minute test routine

  1. Fill in all placeholders with made-up but realistic data
  2. Run the prompt in your preferred AI tool
  3. Check: Is the format right? Is the tone right? Is anything missing? Is any placeholder producing a weird result?
  4. Iterate on the placeholder text or prompt instructions until the test output is solid
  5. Then run it on your real data

This is how Promptifi tests every prompt

Every prompt in Promptifi is run through a 5-point quality test before it's added to the library. See How We Test Prompts for the full methodology. When you use a Promptifi prompt, the testing has already been done — but you should still review the usage instructions for any context-specific guidance.
