Most sales reps use AI like a one-shot question to a search engine. They get an output, it's okay but not great, and they either use it anyway or start over. The reps getting elite results iterate.
Iteration commands that work
- "Make the opening line more specific — reference the funding announcement specifically."
- "The CTA is too aggressive. Rewrite it to be softer — something like 'worth a 15-minute conversation?'"
- "Keep everything but change the tone from formal to peer-to-peer."
- "This is 160 words. Cut it to under 100 without losing the core message."
- "Write 3 alternative subject lines for this email."
- "Make this sound like it was written by a practitioner, not a vendor."
The compounding effect
After 3-4 rounds of targeted iteration, you'll have an output that's genuinely better than what most reps write manually. The key is being specific about what to change, not asking Claude to "make it better."
The rule
Prompt → Evaluate → Iterate → Evaluate → Iterate. Never use a first draft.
