Give AI the Words Your Prospects Actually Use

The principle

AI produces generic output when it's given generic inputs. The fastest way to get specific, resonant output is to feed it specific language — ideally the exact words your prospect used to describe their problem, their goal, or their situation.

Where to find this language

Prospects reveal how they think about their problems constantly. The sources are:

  • LinkedIn posts: What has the VP or Director posted about recently? What language did they use? What pain point did they describe?
  • Earnings call transcripts: Public companies publish these. What exact language did the CEO or CFO use to describe their challenges?
  • Your call notes: What specific phrase did the prospect use in your last conversation? "We're drowning in manual work" is more powerful than "they have process inefficiencies."
  • Job postings: The language in a job posting reveals what problem the company is trying to solve by hiring for that role.

How to use it

When you run a cold email prompt, don't describe the prospect's situation in your words. Paste their actual language. "The prospect recently posted: 'Our outbound team is struggling to personalize at scale as we grow — everything feels like a template.'" That exact phrase, fed into the prompt, produces copy that references their real concern in their own language.

This is the difference between a reply rate and no reply rate.
