Weekly Competitor Intelligence Review

What this automation does: Automatically monitors your top competitors for news, product launches, pricing changes, and G2 reviews — then summarizes the competitive intel in a format your team can act on.

Time saved: 2-3 hours per week

Manual version (start here)

  1. Set up Google Alerts for each competitor's company name, product name, and CEO name. Alerts will email you whenever new content is indexed.
  2. Once a week, collect those alerts and paste them into Perplexity or Claude with this prompt: "You are a competitive intelligence analyst. Summarize these recent developments about [COMPETITOR]. For each item, assess: (1) Is this a threat to our position? (2) Does this create an opportunity? (3) Is there a sales talking point we can use? Format as a competitive intel brief, max 1 page."
  3. Share the summary to your sales team Slack channel every Monday morning.

Automated version

Connect Google Alerts to a Zapier webhook. Collect alerts over 7 days, then run a weekly Zap that sends the accumulated alerts to Claude API with the intel prompt above, and posts the output to your #competitive-intel Slack channel. Full setup: ~90 minutes.

Bonus: G2 review monitoring

"Search for the most recent G2 reviews of [COMPETITOR] in the last 30 days. Identify the top 3 customer complaints. How can I reference these weaknesses in my sales conversations without disparaging the competitor directly?"
