Competitive Alert Monitor: Track Competitor Mentions Automatically

What this automation does: Every day, this automation searches for news and updates about your top 3-5 competitors, sends the results to Claude for sales-relevant analysis, and delivers a concise competitive intelligence summary to your Slack channel. You wake up every morning knowing what your competitors have announced, changed, or are being criticized for.

Why it matters: Competitive intelligence is one of the highest-leverage activities in sales, but most reps don't do it because it's too manual. This automation makes it effortless — you get the intelligence without the research. When a prospect mentions a competitor, you already know the latest news.

How to set it up:

  1. In Make, create a daily trigger (6am recommended)
  2. For each competitor, run an HTTP request to Perplexity API: "What are the most important developments at [COMPETITOR] in the last 24 hours?"
  3. Pass each result to Claude API: "You are a competitive intelligence analyst. From this news, extract: (1) anything that affects how reps should sell against this competitor, (2) any new weaknesses to exploit, (3) any new strengths to prepare for"
  4. Compile all competitor summaries into a formatted Slack message
  5. Post to a dedicated #competitive-intel Slack channel

Estimated time saved: 30-45 minutes of daily competitive research. More importantly: intelligence you'd otherwise miss entirely that affects active deals.
