Why this matters for sellers

Roleplay is the highest-value coaching activity and the one that almost never happens, because it needs a manager's hour per rep per deal. Automating the rehearsal is a genuine change to how skill development scales — assuming the simulated buyer is any good.

In plain English

An agent here means software that runs a defined job end to end rather than answering a prompt. Salesforce shipped two: an SDR agent that engages inbound leads, and a Sales Coach agent.

Sales Coach simulates a buyer for a specific deal — using the CRM record for that opportunity, not a generic script — across discovery, pitch or negotiation, then gives feedback on how the rep handled it.

The short version: it plays the customer so you can practise on the real deal before you walk into it, and tells you afterwards where you were weak.

Salesforce announced Einstein SDR Agent and Einstein Sales Coach Agent on 22 August 2024, ahead of Dreamforce, both built on the Einstein 1 Agentforce Platform.

General availability: October 2024.

Einstein SDR Agent: Autonomously engages inbound leads around the clock — answering questions, handling objections and scheduling meetings — using CRM data plus external information.

Einstein Sales Coach: Deal-specific roleplay across discovery, pitch and negotiation, with objective feedback afterwards.

Platform: Einstein 1 Agentforce Platform.

Price: Not stated in the announcement.

Guardrails: Not detailed — the announcement does not describe what limits autonomous agent action on live leads.

What it doesn't do: the announcement does not say what constrains the SDR agent, which is the question worth asking before letting software answer inbound leads unsupervised. It also does not price either agent. Note the naming churn on this product line: Einstein Copilot was folded into Agentforce in January 2025, so internal documentation referring to Einstein branding may describe things that have since been renamed.

What it means for you

SDR — The SDR agent is the half aimed at you, and it is aimed squarely at inbound qualification — the work that currently justifies a chunk of SDR headcount. Worth reading the announcement yourself rather than hearing about it secondhand.

AE — Deal-specific rehearsal before a negotiation call is the most useful thing here. Generic roleplay has always been worthless; roleplay grounded in this opportunity's actual record is a different proposition.

Manager — This is your tool more than the reps'. Coaching consistency has always been capacity-limited, and automated rehearsal plus objective feedback is the first credible answer to that constraint.

RevOps — Output quality is downstream of CRM quality — a roleplay built on a thin opportunity record will be a thin roleplay. Fix the data before you buy the coach.

What to run

Before rehearsing the call, be clear what you are actually testing. Build the discovery agenda first, then roleplay against it.
