Flash is built for volume and speed rather than depth, so it fits list enrichment and bulk summarisation — switching your account-planning work to it is a downgrade, not a saving.
Google made Gemini 2.0 Flash generally available on 5 February 2025, alongside Flash-Lite and Pro, citing higher rate limits, stronger performance and simplified pricing. The model had been available in an experimental release since 11 December 2024.
Flash-Lite arrived as a cheaper tier in the same release, and Gemini 2.0 Pro followed in experimental form. The December 2024 release was experimental; general availability is the February date, and the two are frequently conflated.
