Gemini's side panel in Docs, Sheets, Slides and Chat can now reach Salesforce and HubSpot. It arrived on by default, and your admin can switch it off.
The copy-paste step is why most sellers quit using AI on their own pipeline. Pulling an opportunity out of Salesforce, dropping it into a chat window and pasting the answer back costs more attention than the answer is worth, so it happens twice and then stops. A connector in the Docs side panel removes that step for the one dataset that actually describes your deals. The catch is that it also removes the moment where you used to notice the record was wrong: a stale next step or an empty close plan was obvious in a raw paste, and it will not be obvious inside a fluent paragraph.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, a common wiring standard that lets an assistant talk to an outside application without a custom integration built for that one pair of products. It is why this list can grow. Google built the socket rather than seven separate plugs.
On by default means your administrator did not have to do anything for this to reach you; they have to act to switch it off. Google says the control sits at the domain, organizational unit or group level in the Admin console under Apps > Google Workspace > Gemini for Workspace > Third-Party Connectors.
The short version: Gemini can now reach your CRM from inside a Google Doc, nobody on your side had to turn it on, and your admin is the one who can turn it off.
Google switched on third-party connectors for Gemini in Google Workspace on September 15, 2026. Users can "use Gemini in Workspace to directly interact with Asana, Atlassian Rovo, HubSpot, Intuit Mailchimp, Intuit Quickbooks, Monday, and Salesforce through Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations." Access runs through the Gemini side panel in Docs, Sheets and Slides, and in Google Chat.

What it doesn't do: The announcement says users can "directly interact with" the connected tools but never states whether Gemini can write to Salesforce or HubSpot or only read from them, and it gives no example use cases. It also says nothing about record-level permissions, so it does not tell you whether Gemini sees only what your own CRM user can see. Both are questions for your admin, not assumptions to make.
SDR — Ask in Google Chat which accounts on your list already carry an open opportunity before you build the sequence rather than after you have sent it. The saving is a few minutes per list, and it is worth exactly as much as your CRM records are populated.
AE — Draft the deal review where the account plan already lives. In Docs, have the side panel pull the opportunity's current stage, close date and last activity, then write down the three facts the record does not contain. That gap list is the real output; the summary above it is not.
Manager — A forecast call where every rep generated their summary from the same connector will agree with itself and still be wrong, because the connector reads the CRM rather than the deal. Keep asking what changed since last week and who said it.
RevOps — This arrived on by default, which is the fact to act on this week. Establish which organizational units now have it, whether Gemini inherits each user's own CRM permissions or a broader grant, and whether CRM records pulled into a Doc land inside your existing retention and data-loss scope. Google's post answers none of the three.
Before you trust a generated pipeline summary, run the same review by hand on three deals and list every fact the CRM record does not contain. The pipeline, forecast and CRM-hygiene prompts in Sales Operations, CRM & Productivity are built for that comparison.
Two minutes, once a week. What changed in AI, and what to run because of it.
