Most reps use AI reactively — they have a task, they type a request, they get an output, they move on. The reps who get consistently better outputs invest a small amount of time in prompt management: saving the prompts that work, refining them based on what they learn, and using the same high-quality starting point every time instead of reinventing from scratch.
Any prompt you use more than twice should be saved. The highest-priority candidates: your cold email template for your primary ICP, your pre-call research brief structure, your post-call MEDDPICC analysis, your standard objection handling approaches for the 2-3 objections you hear most often, and your LinkedIn post format for the types of content you produce regularly.
Claude Projects is the most effective tool for this. Create a project for each major sales workflow (Outreach, Discovery, Proposals, etc.) and store your best prompts in the project instructions. Every conversation in that project inherits your saved context and prompt structures.
Alternatively, a simple Notion page or even a Notes file works — the medium matters less than the habit. What matters is that you're not rewriting prompts from memory every time.
A prompt you refine over three months of real use is dramatically better than a prompt you write fresh today. The reps who've been doing this for six months have prompts that reflect hundreds of real-world learnings. That's a compounding advantage that only grows over time.
